HULL — In the end, it came down to a matter of pride.
Cohasset had little else to play for as it sprinted onto a cold, blustery field at Hull High Thursday morning. The Skippers were facing the Pirates for the second time this season, having beaten Hull Sept. 27.
With a South Shore league title in hand and a trip to Gillette Stadium scheduled for Dec. 7, the rivalry could have easily become an afterthought for Cohasset.
At the conclusion of his team’s victory over St. Clement in the Eastern Mass. title game last weekend, Cohasset coach Pete Afanasiw left the fate of Thanksgiving up to his players.
“We sent the senior captains home and said talk about it with your fellow seniors,” said Afanasiw. “The coaches did the same thing — we both had separate powwows and we brought it together [Monday] and said we want to win the game.”
