LOWELL — It all started to sink in for Tewksbury coach Brian Aylward following the Redmen’s 32-14 victory over Melrose Saturday in the Division 3 state semifinals.

His players earned another shot at the Super Bowl and a chance to redeem themselves from their disappointing 35-0 loss to Duxbury on the big stage two years ago at Gillette Stadium.

“That was a painful thing for them, painful for our coaching staff,” Aylward said of the 2011 Super Bowl loss. “I’m proud that they get a chance [to go back].”

No. 4-ranked Tewksbury (11-0) will play No. 9 Plymouth South (9-1) Dec. 7 in the Division 3 Super Bowl.

The Redmen reeled off 19 straight points to start the second half, turning a 6-point lead into a blowout at Cawley Stadium.
