The road to the Greater Boston League title goes through Everett.
And year and after, Malden High has been unable to drive through that massive road block.
Saturday afternoon was no different.
The Crimson Tide rolled to a 35-0 victory.
But for the first time, the defeat, though painful, was not as devastating.
With the MIAA’s new playoff system in pace, Malden (4-3, 2-1 GBL) is one of 39 high school programs from communities north of Boston that has qualified for the postseason. And the Golden Tornadoes are one of four teams to qualify for the first time.
And Malden’s Division 1 North first-round matchup could not have been scripted any better: a rematch at Everett on Friday night.
