Boys’ basketball players of the week

Giulien Smith, Catholic Memorial — In a 106-100 win over BC High Tuesday, the junior finished with 34 points and 10 rebounds. He hit a layup as time expired to send the game into overtime.

Tom Galanek, Steve Young, and Phil Leotsakos, BC High — The trio of seniors combined to score 71 points in BC High’s valiant 106-100 loss to No. 1 CM Catholic Memorial on Tuesday. Galanek led the way with 25 points, Young had 24, and Leotsakos added 22.

Joe Bertrand, Saugus — With the Sachems fighting for a tournament berth, the senior had 27 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals in a win over Triton.

Matt Costello, Bishop Fenwick — The senior guard scored 35 points on Tuesday to power the Crusaders to a 68-61 win over Shawsheen.

Phil Rogers, Lynn Classical — A 26-point, 12-rebound performance for the junior gaurd on Tuesday pushed the Rams past Revere, 72-62.

Stevie Collins, Lynn English — In the then-No. 10 Bulldogs’ 1-point loss at the buzzer to Beverly on Friday, Collins led Lynn English’s second-half surge that pushed its lead to 12 points in the fourth quarter, scoring 23 points in the game.

Tim Walsh, Attleboro — The senior guard helped Attleboro qualify for the state tournament this week, collecting 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. In Friday night’s game against King Philip, Walsh scored 23 points, including the 1,000th of his career, and added nine rebounds and five assists. Walsh is only the sixth Attleboro boy to reach to reach the 1,000 plateau.
