In the opening game of Saturday’s eighth annual BABC Prep Classic at the Shelburne Center in Roxbury, Northfield-Mount Hermon’s Josh Sharma, a 7-foot junior from Lexington, made sure his Hoggers never trailed.

Behind Sharma’s 18 points and six rebounds, NMH (12-2) dropped Brimmer & May, 69-48. The loss leaves the Gators at 6-7.

Sharma, who already has nine Division 1 scholarship offers, including from Boston College, Connecticut, and Maryland, scored his team’s first 10 points.

He drained back-to-back 3-pointers and added two baskets inside, the highlight of which was a weakside alley-oop finish.

When asked about his perimeter shooting Sharma said, “I made a few 3-pointers earlier in the season. I can shoot them. It’s just that . . . I choose not to.”
