Baseball Players of the Week

Alex Toomey, Beverly — He improved to 4-1 by going the distance against Peabody last Wednesday. Toomey struck out six batters in the 6-1 victory; the Tanners’ only run came on an error. He threw just 70 pitches over seven innings.

Andrew Della Volpe, Concord-Carlisle — The catcher came up big at the plate Saturday. He crushed two home runs and had four RBIs against Newton South, helping Concord-Carlisle to a 10-5 victory.

Pat Horrocks, Braintree — The Wamps earned their eighth consecutive state tournament appearance Saturday. Horrocks went 3 for 4 with three RBIs in Braintree’s 8-3 victory over Middleboro.

Tucker Bouchard, Silver Lake — Bouchard threw a one-hitter in an 8-0 blanking of Whitman-Hanson Saturday. He struck out eight batters and was the main reason for Silver Lake earning its thirteenth win of the season.

Mike Campatelli, Bishop Fenwick — Campatelli’s RBI single in the 14th inning gave Fenwick a 2-1 victory over Archbishop Williams.

Keelan Smithers, Belmont Hill — The senior hurled a complete game against Rivers Saturday, striking out 10 batters. He walked just two Red Wings.

Remy Pontes, Arlington — The catcher went 7 for 10 in three games last week. Pontes recorded six RBIs, two runs, a double, and a triple.
