Peter Dawe leads Burlington baseball past Stoneham, 5-2

If Burlington baseball coach Christopher Nance had to describe pitcher Peter Dawe in one word, it would be ‘‘competitor.’’

 Dawe took the mound on Monday against Belmont despite having the flu and was pulled after giving up five runs in the first inning, picking up his first loss of the season. The senior didn’t tell Nance he was sick prior to the game because he thought he could fight through it.

 Dawe got the nod on Friday at Stoneham, going the distance in leading the Red Devils to a 5-2 win. Last year’s Middlesex League MVP allowed no earned runs, three hits, and struck out five.

 Burlington scored all five of its runs in the third after loading the bases and hitting three straight singles.
