Coming out of a St. Paul, Minn., high school, Chris Weinke committed to playing football at Florida State University, but in 1990 chose instead to sign a minor league baseball contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Weinke played in the Jays' system for six seasons before deciding it was time to give college football a try. It turned out to be a good decision.
As a senior in 2000, Weinke led the nation in passing and, at age 28, became the oldest college football player ever to win the Heisman Trophy. Weinke went on to play for the NFL's Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers.
