Riddle of the Spinks
The Boston Globe
Seven months later, New Orleans hosted an Ali-Spinks rematch. Ali, then 36, showed up in better shape and won a unanimous decision. After he lost the so-called ''Battle of New Orleans,' Spinks became progressively mortal in the ring. He got one more crack at the heavyweight title, losing a title bid to Larry Holmes in a third-round TKO in 1981. He finished his career in 1995 with a professional record of 26 wins, 17 losses, and 3 draws.
