Report: Fatal painkiller still being used
Former Southern Cal defensive lineman Armond Armstead
claims in a lawsuit that he suffered a heart attack after the 2010 season because the school's training staff uses a painkiller that carries fatal risks, according to an ABC News investigation Thursday. Armstead, 20, who has left USC, alleges that university personnel have knowingly used generic Toradol over the course of the past few seasons. He said trainers regularly do not tell the players about the risks of using it. ABC News reported that the painkiller is still widely used on game days so injured players can play . . . Tom O’Brien

Corbett sued the NCAA in federal court on Wednesday, saying penalties imposed against Penn State over its handling of the matter should be thrown out on antitrust grounds.
Hall of Famer Donovan to coach Sun
Seton Hall women’s basketball coach Anne Donovan
is returning to the WNBA to coach the Connecticut Sun, she announced. Donovan, who won a WNBA championship with Seattle in 2004, was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995, and also coached Indiana, Charlotte, and New York, compiling a 167-150 record in 10 seasons. She earned two Olympic gold medals as a player and coached the US to a gold medal in the 2008 Olympic games.
AC Milan leaves match amid racism
An exhibition between AC Milan and lower division club Pro Patria was abandoned after Milan’s players walked off the field because of racist chants. After chants were directed his way, Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng picked up the ball and kicked it at a section of the crowd in the 26th minute. Boateng then took off his shirt and walked off with his Milan teammates. Urby Emanuelson, Sulley Muntari, and M’Baye Niang were also targeted by the chants. The game was in Busto Arsizio, north of Milan . . . The Revolution signed Portuguese central defender Jose Goncalves on loan with a purchase option from Switzerland’s FC Sion. Goncalves, 27, has nine years of pro experience.
