Marathon advice from Runner's World experts
On race day
Mark Remy, executive editor, Runnersworld.com, says: My top three race-day tips for Boston:
1. Take reading material to the Athletes Village (and a trash bag to sit on, if its damp).
2. Run a conservative first half! Its so easy to go out too fast, especially as the road plunges out of Hopkinton.
3. Dont let Heartbreak Hill psych you out. Its just a hill. Run relaxed, shake out your arms, and imagine that final left turn onto Boylston. Oh, and guys, if you can, pause for a kiss at Wellesley. Where else can you smooch a random college girl and get away with it?
