Sports Illustrated Boston Marathon finish line cover shoot hits newsstands


Some 3,000 local residents showed up at the Boston Marathon finish line last Saturday, hoping to be part of the magazine’s cover shoot in Copley Square.

The issue hits newsstands on Wednesday.

“3,000 strong,” the cover’s caption reads. “That was the estimate for Saturday’s cover shoot at the marathon finish line, including the city’s mayor and dozens of runners and first responders.”

S.L. Price and Red Sox slugger David Ortiz penned one-year anniversary accounts of the marathon bombings for the issue.
