A few basic but important details about Monday's 116th Boston Marathon:
Start times
9 a.m.: Mobility Impaired Program
9:17 a.m.: Push rim wheelchair division
9:22 a.m.: Handcycle participants
9:32 a.m.: Elite women's
10:00 a.m.: Elite men's start and first wave
10:20 a.m.: Second wave
10:40 a.m.: Third wave
TV coverage: Ch. 4 has the local broadcast beginning at 8 a.m.
Updates: Boston.com's Stride by Stride page will feature updates on the race progress and news notes, plus a map that shows where the leaders are and split times for the lead runners at every mile.
Defending champions: Men -- Geoffrey Mutai, Kenya; Women -- Caroline Kilel, Kenya; Men's' wheelchair -- Masuzumi Soejima, Japan; Women's wheelchair -- Wakako Tsuchida, Japan (all are entered in this year's race).
