We've had features and online extras throughout the week leading up to the Boston Marathon, and now we've enhanced Boston.com's coverage for smartphone users.
The screenshots above show the mobile displays we've developed for Droid and iPhone devices to help you follow the Marathon from anywhere this weekend. Our mobile pages for the marathon (located at marathon.boston.com/2011) feature three key components -- a feed of Twitter posts related to the Boston Marathon (using the hashtag #BostonMarathon), updates from our Stride By Stride blog, and a direct link to this blog. Stride by Stride is a continuous feed that in the past has only been launched on race day to track in-race developments. However, this year we've launched it early to bring you updates from throughout the weekend.
You can also scan the QR code embedded here, or simply go to marathon.boston.com/2011 in your mobile device's browser.
We'll be demonstrating the mobile coverage and Boston.com's features at the Runner's Expo this weekend, so feel free to drop by and say hello, test the site and pick up one of our cool freebies (you'll have to show up to find out what).
Also, follow @GlobeMarathon on Twitter for additional info, especially on race day when our coverage team will be spread out across the race course to bring you the latest.
In the meantime, here's a list of some of the features you may want to check out:
