Benjamin True sets BAA 5K record
He finished just ahead of Bobby Curtis from Louisville, Ky. (14:07). The time was more than 20 seconds faster than the previous record set by Jarrod Shoemaker in 2009. Shoemaker, of Maynard, ran a 14:29, but all of the top-10 runners this year were faster than that, including Shoemaker, who finished seventh in 14:23.
Tenth-place Brian Harvey, from Allston, finished with a time of 14:25.
Lineth Chepkurui, 24, of Kenya, won the women's race, also in record time. Her 15:52 reduced the record -- set by Watertown native Jennifer Campbell in 2010 -- by a minute. The top seven women finishers in this year's race beat that time, including seventh-place Jeannette Faber from Somerville and third-place finisher Stephanie Reilly from Northbridge.

- Ty Velde is a 16-time Boston qualifier who's completed 12 consecutive Boston Marathons and 25 marathons overall. Ty is now training for his 13th Boston run and will provide training tips for those who train solo and outside, no matter what temperature it is.
- Rich 'Shifter' Horgan is a 19-time Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team member who runs in honor of his father, who died of colon cancer. He will provide updates on local running events with a focus on the charitable organizations that provide Boston Marathon entries for their organization's fund raising purposes
