Bruins history in the conference finals
1983: Bruins taken down by the Islanders in six
The Bruins had to beat the Quebec Nordiques in the first round as one of their obstacles to reach the conference finals. After beating the Sabres in the second round in seven games, the Bruins lost to the Islanders in six. Barry Pederson, then 21, and a 29-year-old Rick Middleton led the way for the Bruins that year, along with a 22-year-old Ray Bourque. In this particular series, the Bruins gave up seven goals in three of the losses and five in another one.
The Islanders swept the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup.
