Gary Bettman Also Supportive of P.K. Subban Following Racist Tweets

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman made an appearance at TD Garden ahead of the Bruins-Canadiens second game in their Stanley Cup playoff series.

Bettman took the time to address the racist comments directed to Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, who found himself a target after scoring the game-winning goal against the Bruins Thursday in double overtime.

"I fully endorse and support the comment that Cam Neely and the Bruins issued," Bettman said. "We are about diversity and inclusiveness. We condem bias and hatred. It has no place in our game and it's not acceptable."

In a similar vein, he was also asked about the controversy surrounding the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

"I don't know more about it than you do," Bettman said. "I watched it from afar. But, comments like those that were made are obviously inappropriate and unacceptable. Based on all of the information available to him, commissioner Adam Silver obviously did what he believed was appropriate and right."
