Bruins president Cam Neely released the following statement Friday in the wake of racist comments that populated Twitter after Montrealís P.K. Subban scored the winning goal in the Canadiensí 4-3, double overtime, Game 1 win:
"The racist, classless views expressed by an ignorant group of individuals following Thursday's game via digital media are in no way a reflection of anyone associated with the Bruins organization."
The Anti-Defamation League also issued the following statement following the racist rants that populated social media outlets following the game last night:
The disgusting, racially motivated comments that flooded Twitter and other social media outlets following last nightís Boston Bruins playoff game have no place in sports.
We commend the Boston Bruins organization for swiftly condemning the hateful comments and for making it clear that they are not representative of the team or the city, and simply have no place in sports.
