WILMINGTON -- Most of the Bruins stayed off the ice at Ristuccia Arena today. Tim Thomas, Marty Turco, Rich Peverley, Joe Corvo, Mike Mottau, and Gregory Campbell were among the sparse group of players who hit the ice.

The Bruins will travel to San Jose on Wednesday morning and practice at HP Pavilion in preparation for Thursday's game against the Sharks.

"I think it's just maintaining what we've done here for the last couple games," Claude Julien said. "Our last road trip wasn't a very good one. We certainly have to get better on this one. If you look at the teams we're playing right now, the team, to me, that's playing the best is Anaheim, who's out of the playoffs. The other two are right there knocking on the door. We're going into a territory where there's a lot of desperation. We're going to have some good challenges."

* Peverley will join the team on the trip. Peverley will most likely need at least one full-contact practice before he's ready for game action.

* Turco used the time to break in his bright gold pads. "Put on your shades," Turco said after wrapping up practice. Turco should see some action during the three-game trip.

* Nathan Horton will not travel to California. Horton continues to go through off-ice workouts.
