The Bruins have acquired Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau from the Islanders.

Rolston played in Boston from 1999 to 2004. Rolston scored 101 goals and 135 assists in 338 games for the Bruins. Rolston had cleared waivers.

Mottau, the former Boston College star, is the left-shot depth defenseman the Bruins have wanted.

The Bruins sent low-level prospects Yannick Riendeau and Marc Cantin to the Islanders.
