Zdeno Chara will miss his first game of the season tonight.

Zdeno Chara will not play tonight. Claude Julien said Chara suffered a lower-body injury in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh. Chara is considered day-to-day.

Jeff Penner, recalled on an emergency basis from Providence yesterday, will make his NHL debut tonight. Penner got the call yesterday from assistant GM Don Sweeney that he'd be traveling to Toronto.

"You dream of that every time as a little kid," Penner said of receiving the call. "It's everybody's dream in Canada."
