Four-on-four is underway.

Third period

Tied, 2-2, after 60:00. Boston with 36-30 shot lead into OT.

Vancouver 2, Boston 2 -- Demitra, (Salo, Glass) 15:18. Parked at top of crease, supplies tip to Glass blast from up high in zone. Salo broke stick on first attempt for shot on net.

Play opens up. Luongo stops Wheeler on partial breakaway at 11:53. Glass snuffed out by Rask at 12:20. Wideman prevents Demitra from sliding puck in open left side at 13:07. Clubs trading chances like a Friday night men's league.

Only 10 seconds into period, Ryder lands his fourth shot of the day on net. No goal. The only one he scored on was actually a Savard shot that he tipped.

Second Period

Second period wrapped up. Bruins with 2-1 lead and a 25-12 shot advantage.

Two good attempts by Ryder, both turned away by Luongo. First a 30-foot wrister at 18:29, then a 10-footer at 18:52.

Peanlty -- Vancouver, O'Brien (interference) 13:24. Dumps Recchi in Vancouver net.

Good PK by Bruins at critical juncture of game.

Penalty -- Boston, Chara (interference) 10:12. Momentum really swinging VAN's way now.

Boston 2, Vancouver 1 -- Raymond (Kesler) 9:51. After Kesler takes heavy hits along rear wall, Raymond picks up puck near goal line, walks out fron and post forehander. Only 10th shot on Rask.

With 8:00 gone in period, Bruins announce Boychuk will not return to game. Club does not disclose specifics or severity of injury, per standard KGB practices that cover all state secrets.

Two great chances for Boston shorthanders. Morris stopped on a point-blank slapper by Luongo. And with 6:35 gone in period, Sturm breaks in alone from neutral zone and misfires wide left.

Penalty -- Boston, Ryder (tripping) 5:36. Bad penalty, in offensive end, negates final seconds of Boston power play.

Still no word on nature or severity of his injury.

First period in books. Boston 2, Vancouver 0. Boston with 13-7 shot lead.\

Penalty -- Boston, Recchi (hooking), 19:13. Bad penalty, committed in Boston's offensive end.

Boston 2, Vancouver 0 -- Ryder (Savard, Bergeron), PPG, 14:20. With back to net about 15 feet out in the slot, Ryder deflects in puck off Savard's wrister from up near blue line. Bruins 2-for-2 on the man-advantage.

Canucks lose Alex Burrows when he felled in defensive slot by a Wideman slaper.

Penatly -- Vancouver, Rypien (interference) 12:34

Skilled Canucks break out with speed on man-advantage, but Boston penalty killers keep them away from Rask. No shon on Van PP.

Penalty -- Boston, Lucic (interference) 10:25.

Johnny Boychuk felled by Mikael Samuelsson slapper at 8:22. Boychuk remains face down in Rask's crease for a couple of minutes, bleeding from around the left eye area. No immediate word on his condition. Me makes it to dressing room on his feet, assisted by trainer Don Del Negro. Scary.

Penalty -- Boston, Hunwick (holding), 7:04

Bruins with some spunk in the trunks today. Thornton and Hordichuk throw down off faceoff and trade a few shots at 4:27. Better of battle to Hordichuk. Thornton resists pasting big winger with right hand after Canuck falls to floor at end of bout.

Boston 1, Vancouver 0 --  Chara  (Savard, Sturm), PPG, 1:56.   Chara sinks down low from point position and pots forehander at left post.  Good finally to see Big Z with net-front presence on the advantage--needed to be there weeks ago.

Penalty --  Glass, Vancouver (boarding), 0:38.   Bruins first-unit PP:  Wheeler-Krejci-Recchi with Wideman and Chara at points.  Second unit:  Ryder-Savard-Sturm with Bergeron and Chara.

Puck down here at the Garden.
