Bruins No. 1 goalie Tim Thomas, who last week in Las Vegas received the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's No. 1 stopper, next week is expected to be invited to the Team USA Olympic camp in August.

USA Hockey will release the list of invitees next Tuesday, June 30, and we'll be sure to post the names here immediately on boston.com.

Bruins right winger Phil Kessel, who connected for 36 goals this past season, also could be on the invitee list. However, it's highly unlikely that the 21-year-old Kessel, who spent two seasons with the US Nationa Team Development Program, would be able to participate in on-icde drills. He is recovering from shoulder surgery he had last month and is not expected to be able to be ready to start the NHL season in October.

Kessel, though, could still be invited to the camp, where he could continue his off-sesaon workouts and intermingle with the prospective team members.

The Olympic camp will be held in Woodridge, IL, a Chicago suburb, August 16-20.

The NHL will shut down for upwards of two weeks when the Games are staged in Vancouver, Feb. 12-28.

Neither Thomas nor Kessel ever have played in the Olympics.
