Thomas gets the start
Puck about to drop here at the ACC. Holding true to his word in the morning workout, Claude Julien went with Tim Thomas in the Boston net.
Aaron Ward, sufficiently healed from his recent charley horse, also was back in uniform and was on the ice for the opening faceoff, pairing with captain Zdeno Chara.
As expected, Matt Lashoff moved out of the lineup to accommodate the addition of Ward. Lashoff was on the sidelines with Andrew Ference and Milan Lucic.
Upon touching down at Hanscom Field in Bedford early on Thursday morning, the Bruins are off until they convene for a 2 p.m. practice in Wilmington on Monday.
The Leafs wore special sweaters with the capital letters ''ACE'' across the chest, supplanting the club's trademark Maple Leaf. The new fashion was in honor of Ace Bailey, the ex-Leaf who nearly died when clubbed by Eddie Shore at Boston Garden in the early-'30s.
Each Leaf wore the trademark Maple Leaf on the front of their sweaters, just below the left shoulder.
