Good morning from TD Banknorth Garden, where the Bruins are preparing for their first match against Toronto this season.

Stick salute to Matt Porter for taking a shift yesterday and handling print/blog duties. If Ports keeps up that pace, management will be looking to put us older hacks on waivers.

Some tidbits from the pre-game notes:

* Neither team has excelled on the penalty kill. The Leafs are 29th in the league (72.4 percent efficiency rate) while the Bruins are ranked 25th (75 percent).

* Toronto, like Boston, is 0-3 in the shootout this season. Ron Wilson tried an interesting move last time, subbing out starter Vesa Toskala for Curtis Joseph.

* Tonight's referees will be Dave Jackson and Dan O'Rourke. Andy McElman and Jonny Murray will be the linesmen.
