From the game notes:

* This is the third year in a row the Bruins have opened on the road. That hasn't happened since 1958-61.

* The Bruins have lost their last three season openers. Their last season-opening road win was on Oct. 5, 1993 (4-3 over the Rangers).

* With his next goal, Michael Ryder will have 100 NHL strikes.
