P.J. Axelsson will miss a second straight game because of muscle spasms, so the lineup (other than Tim Thomas starting) will remain the same from Saturday. Claude Julien said Axelsson's injury wasn't serious and that he hopes to have the left wing back in the lineup this week.

"It's the early part of the season," Julien said. "There are parts when you can play through injuries. There are other parts where it's about making the wise decision. Sometimes the coach has to step in and help make that decision. So for us, we're going to hold him back another game."

* Tonight will be Patrice Bergeron's first game at TD Banknorth Garden since Oct. 27, 2007. "I'm looking forward to the game," Bergeron said. "It's been a while since we've played a regular-season home game here. So we're all pretty excited. It should be a lot of fun, especially in front of our fans. We're looking forward to it."

* The Bruins enter tonight's game with only 14 power-play opportunities, the fewest in the league. "The refs must not like us or something," joked Michael Ryder. But the right wing acknowledged that teams draw penalties when putting pressure on opposing defenders. "That's when they use their sticks," said Ryder. "We control the puck a lot when we play. It's just that the penalties haven't been called yet."

Tonight's expected lineup:

Milan Lucic
Marc Savard
Michael Ryder
Marco Sturm
Patrice Bergeron
Phil Kessel
Blake Wheeler
David Krejci
Petteri Nokelainen
Vladimir Sobotka
Stephane Yelle
Shawn Thornton
Zdeno Chara
Dennis Wideman
Andrew Ference
Aaron Ward
Mark Stuart
Shane Hnidy
Tim Thomas
Manny Fernandez
