NHL eyes Bruins’ deal with center
On Monday, arbitrator Richard Bloch upheld the NHL’s rejection of Ilya Kovalchuk’s 17-year, $102 million contract with New Jersey. But even before Bloch issued his ruling, the NHL had continued its investigation into Marc Savard’s contract with the Bruins, a seven-year, $28.05 million extension that has a similar structure to Kovalchuk’s voided deal.
