Sharpshooter Evgeni Malkin froze Tim Thomas by faking a forehand, then quickly whistled the puck past the Bruins goalie to help the Penguins earn a 2-1 shootout win last night. A shot-by-shot breakdown of the shootout (bold type indicates goal scored).

Penguins vs. Tim ThomasBruins vs. Dany Sabourin
Kris Letang (flubs deke, backhand stuffed) Phil Kessel (dekes to backhand, lifts over pad)
Petr Sykora (wide right approach, backhand at right post)Patrice Bergeron (fires wrister wide left)
Sidney Crosby (snap shot, blocker save)Michael Ryder (backhander, unable to lift over pad)
Miroslav Satan (wrister, pad save)David Krejci (backhand deflected wide of left post)
Evgeni Malkin (wide right approach, fakes shot, forehand stick side)Marc Savard (wide right approach, forehand, blocker save)

HOW IT WORKS: Each team chooses three shooters. If the score is still tied after the three shots per team, the teams alternate additional shooters until one scores and the other does not. All skaters must participate before a player can shoot a second time.
