Defenseman Brad Lukowich scored a third-period goal and the host Vancouver Canucks earned a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres last night.

Thomas Vanek tied the game on a power play 1:49 into the period, but Henrik and Daniel Sedin combined on a nice play to set up Lukowich for the winner.

After taking a pass from twin brother Henrik, Daniel cut into the slot before making a between-the-legs drop pass to Lukowich pinching in hard from the point.

Lukowich, who was in the American Hockey League until recently because of the Canucks’ salary cap issues to start the season, quickly snapped a shot over Ryan Miller’s glove at 5:21 of the third period for his first goal since Nov. 5, 2007.

Penguins 4, Rangers 2 - Chris Conner, recalled from the minor leagues earlier in the day, netted two goals and Pittsburgh scored twice one minute apart in the third period to beat host New York.

After Artem Anisimov gave the Rangers their only lead 9:15 into the third with his second goal of the night, Evgeni Malkin got Pittsburgh even at 9:46 - 16 seconds into a power play. Conner then fired in a rebound of Sidney Crosby’s shot one minute later to put the Penguins back in front.

Pascal Dupuis’s empty-netter with 39.8 seconds left sealed Pittsburgh’s fourth win over the Rangers this season.

That was enough to give a win to Marc-Andre Fleury, who returned from a four-game absence caused by a broken finger.

Blues 2, Flames 0 - Ty Conklin made 34 saves for his third shutout of the season and visiting St. Louis beat Calgary.

Patrik Berglund and David Perron scored for St. Louis.
