Mueller snapped a 2-2 tie at 2:02 of the second period, beating former Coyotes goalie Brian Boucher on a blast from the point off a pass from Jokinen.

Phoenix held on from there, even as San Jose peppered goalie Ilya Bryzgalov with 24 shots over the final two periods.

Toews's goal was his first in 13 games this season.

Panthers 3, Ducks 1 - David Booth scored three straight goals for his first NHL hat trick, and Craig Anderson made 44 saves to help visiting Florida end a six-game winless streak.
