2011 NBA lockout
The 2011 NBA lockout has come to an end after 149 days of negotiations between the NBA Players Association and the league, with a tentative agreement to start a shortened season on Christmas Day. NBA commissioner David Stern had previously canceled the preseason and the first two weeks of the regular season. Over the past three decades, the four major professional sports leagues in this country (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB) have seen seven work stoppages resulting in a loss of games played.
