Patriots first-round picks through the years
2011: Nate SolderWith the 17th pick, the Patriots selected All-American offensive tackle Nate Solder from Colorado. The 23-year old was one of the top lineman in the draft because of his athleticism and coachability. The choice projects to fill a void where there's possible uncertainty because starting left tackle Matt Light is a free agent.
"Nate has been a solid player for Colorado, [a] left tackle and certainly there are a lot of things that hell need to do to improve, but I feel like hes a good, talented guy, a hard-working kid, and if he can keep doing that, then I think hell be able to contribute for us and well work him at left tackle," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said.
