"They've played us pretty good a few times, too," Brady said when asked about the Patriots success against the Steelers in big games recently. "We've had our moments and they've had their moments. I think we realize the kind of challenge that it is. We put a lot of time into the preparation. We put a lot of effort into understanding what we're trying to accomplish from a game plan standpoint. And we've executed well.
"It's a very good defense. First against the league in pass defense. I know you probably don't care about that but they're pretty damn good."
Brady said the Steelers defense is always up for the task of facing New England.
"These guys make it tough on you," Brady said. "They're very physical. They cover well. They have continuity in their defense. You watch the Super Bowl from last year, they get after the quarterback. They really do and that's the hallmark of this defense. They rush the passer. They stop the run. They're a big physical defense that plays very hard, well coached, they don't make many mental errors at all. And then they have some exceptional playmakers like Troy Polamalu. When he's not in there, you actually see what kind of influence he has on that defense because of his ability to make plays for them. They're very well rounded. They always lead the league in defense."
