The last quality road win for the Patriots

Much has been made of the Patriots sorry road record over the last two years -- with their only wins away from Gillette coming in Buffalo over an eliminated team with an interim coach, and in London over a one-win Buccaneer team.

That got me thinking ... When exactly was the last time the Patriots registered a quality road win? Took some digging, but I found it.

The last time the Patriots hit the road to beat an opponent with a winning record was on Nov. 23, 2008. That's right, it was at then-Dolphin Stadium, now Sun Life Stadium, which happens to be where they'll be on Monday night. Hopefully the picture above jogs your memory.

Matt Cassel, for an afternoon anyway, shed the "game manager" tag, and the Patriots turned a game that was nip-and-tuck well into the fourth quarter into a rollicking 48-28 win over the Dolphins, exacting revenge for Miami's blowout win that September. If you remember, as the image of Channing Crowder and Matt Light displays, that one got mighty chippy, too.

Nearly two years later, the Patriots could use some of that vitriol again, as they try to snap out a spell of dreadful road football against most any competent opponent.
