It's very, very difficult to measure individual efficiency on the football field with statistics, because it's such a team game.

But you've got to applaud those who undertake the effort to do it.

The site Advanced NFL Stats has created a metric called "Win Probability Added" and applied it to all defensive players. They didn't rank them, but they did provide a number of players at each position that came out particularly high on the meter.

And Patriots NT Vince Wilfork is among them. The big run-stopper came in 11th among defensive tackles, making him the highest ranked New England defender.

Here are the rankings for at each position group ... Defensive end (top ranked Patriot, Ty Warren, is 42nd), defensive tackle, linebacker (no Patriots among the Top 50), cornerback (Leigh Bodden is 17th, just behind Champ Bailey) and safety (Brandon Meriweather is 14th).

This is worth a look. If you got a few hours to figure it all out.
