brady-maroney-ota.JPGThe Patriots -- most of them, anyway -- will be on the field today for the first day of this year's organized team activities (OTAs), but don't expect much news for a couple of days.

Though this first OTA session goes through Thursday, media will only be allowed to watch Wednesday's activities, so that's the day you'll see blog posts and interviews from the short-and-tees camp.

Offensive lineman Logan Mankins is not expected to be at OTAs, though he is not required to: technically he is not under contract with New England and therefore is not required to participate. Pats' owner Robert Kraft said recently that contract talks have begun between the team and Mankins, a restricted free agent, but that the sides were not close on an agreement.

The schedule for the coming weeks, before the team breaks for a much-needed rest before training camp begins in late July:

May 24-27 - OTAs (media access May 26)
June 1-4 - OTAs (media access June 2)
June 7-8 - OTAs (media access June 7)
June 10-11 - OTAs (media access June 10)
June 15-17 - mandatory mini-camp

These sessions are not open to the public.

The Patriots have not yet announced when training camp will open.
