spikesbrandon_091024_0297_tcasey.jpgLast November, new Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes got himself in a bit of trouble when he reached into the facemask of a Georgia running back during Florida's matchup with their rival, trying to gouge the eyes of Washaun Ealey.

Gators coach Urban Meyer originally decided to only suspend Spikes for the first half of Florida's next game, against Vanderbilt -- something he was heavily criticized for -- but Spikes chose to sit out the entire game as punishment with Meyer's support.

"I feel like, if you do something wrong you should know the consequences," Spikes said at the close of the first mini-camp session this morning.

A Gators team captain, Spikes elaborated that he knows children watch college football and he didn't want them to think that is how the game should be played.
