That dude proudly wearing his Buckeye colors? That's Santonio Holmes, and he's signing a helmet from Glades Central High, his other alma mater.

It just so happens that there are more than a few guys who've worn those colors and made it into the NFL, and there's another one pretty close to home here: Patriots RB Fred Taylor. Taylor and Holmes, in fact, are cousins.

So now, as the temperature rises on the Jets-Patriots rivalry, you've got a couple relatives set to do battle. I thought it was an interesting hook here, anyway.

Holmes and Taylor both proudly hail from an area of Florida -- the Muck City region off in the Everglades -- that has had a remarkable penchant for producing professional football players. For those of you who don't know this pretty amazing story, click here and read up.

After you do, you might realize that the fact that you have two family members ready to compete at such a high level in such close proximity is no accident at all. It makes you wonder, too, if when the Patriots were called on their interest on Holmes (like most everyone in the league was), they consulted Taylor.
