Trade speculation surrounding Bears tight end Greg Olsen has swirled through the offseason. And early on, with the hole at tight end on their roster, the Patriots were at the center of it.

It's died down since and maybe now we can put it to bed.

Yes, New England could still use a pass-catching threat like Olsen at the position to complement third-tackle-type Alge Crumpler. Problem is, it looks like whatever problems the tight end and the Bears had (which could have something to do with Mike Martz's scheme) either a) never existed or b) have subsided.

Via our pal Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, we caught wind of this statement on Olsen's Twitter account: "Anyone with football questions feel free. It's time for our great fans to get real info and not just speculation. ... So far I have a great feeling about my role this year. I have no desire to play anywhere but in Chicago. That was purely media speculation."

And it goes on. All that might not be true, but it's worth taking into account.
