FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer can appreciate the routine of offseason workouts.

Last year, Vollmer was in the midst of the draft process unsure of where he would land in the NFL. With his rookie season behind him, Vollmer said he can build on last year.

"... I just watch film and try to figure out what I can do better and try to get a better understanding of the whole system," Vollmer said.

In the offseason, Vollmer said he found time to return home to Germany for a week but has mostly been in the area working out.

One player Vollmer is happy to re-signed this offseason is offensive guard Stephen Neal.

"Steve is a great guy, a veteran player who's been here for a long time and has done some great things," Vollmer said. "I like the guy. He's a great competitor. It's always good to have guy like him on the team, especially on offensive line."
