NFL commissioner Roger Goodell just addressed a large media contingent here in Orlando at the owners meetings. And here are five quick points he hit on:

1) The fate of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is yet to be determined. But that didn't stop the normally reserved Goodell from weighing in on it today: "The most important thing is we take the issue seriously.  We are concerned that Ben continues to put himself in this position."

2) On the proposal to overhaul overtime, Goodell said he sent this message to the owners: "Don't let perfect get in the way of better." And he added to all of us, "It's getting a lot of thought, and has the potential to be better."

3) Goodell was dismissive when discussing the Giants/Jets coinflip. He said it was his decision to make on how the flip would be conducted, and really only detailed how he separated heads from tails. Since tails has the phrase "In God We Trust", Goodell took the "G" in God to represent Giants, and that was the side of the coin that won out.

4) The labor issue may be getting a lot of attention, but Goodell continually emphasized how "We're still at a very early stage." When discussing the labor talks, the commissioner mentioned Patriots owner Robert Kraft's prominent role.

5) The 2014 Super Bowl vote will take place in May at the league meetings in Dallas, and as such, Goodell said that the possibility of playing that game in a cold-weather site -- New York -- has been only a secondary topic of discussion here in Orlando. Tampa and Miami are the other candidates to host the game.
