Patriots owner Robert Kraft just told WEEI's Big Show that the team has come to terms with free-agent LB Marques Murrell.

Murrell was originally signed by the Eagles as undrafted free agent out of I-AA powerhouse Appalachian State in 2007. He spent the first half of his rookie season on the Philadelphia practice squad, before being poached by the Jets that November.

He played in 26 games as a Jet, primarily as a special teamer, registering 21 tackles and forcing two fumbles. The Jets declined to tender Murrell last week, allowing the would-be restricted free agent to hit the open market.

Unless the Patriots saw something they really liked on the kid's college tape (he did have 36 sacks at that level), he's likely to be in employed in special teams role. Oh, and he's the little brother of ex-Jets running back Adrian Murrell, who was together with Bill Belichick in New York in 1997.
