Rex Ryan has gottten himself in some trouble this offseason. He's also embarrassed himself a little bit. But it's pretty clear none of that's going to change the hefty, affable Jets coach.

He did manage to apologize for the whole middle-finger thing down in Florida, but only had fun at his own expense when discussing baring his chest during a hockey game in Carolina.

"The problem that happened with that wardrobe… I was at the hockey game - and first off all I would like to say, USA, let’s go take care of business, really proud of the way they are playing – but what happened, I thought I had the fighting strap attached to the t-shirt," Ryan said. "Apparently I didn’t. Big mistake. But I appreciate everybody having such a special interest in that."

As for the football stuff, Ryan jabbed a little bit with Friend of Extra Points Gregg Rosenthal, who asked about the possibility the Jets could form a super-combo at corner by adding Nnamdi Asomugha and pairing him with all-world CB Darrelle Revis.

"There we go -- You're trying to get me," Ryan said. "I get myself in enough trouble, alright? So I really don’t need your help to get me in trouble. I think I will pass on talking about any player that is under contract.”

Later, he offered a similar answer when asked to comment on a possible reunion with Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas, widely assumed to be the outs in New England. But he did offer the value of having some of his ex-Ravens in New York.

"That's big, I think any coach that gets a job would want to bring in people he's familiar with, because these are guys that the rest of the team is going to look at," Ryan said. "You better make sure your're bringing in the right guys from a work ethic standpoint. ... Their teammates are going to be watching them. So that something where we definitely had the right guys."

Time will tell if Ryan thinks Thomas is one of those guys, as we believe the coach does.
