Darrelle Revis says comment about Bill Belichick is in the past

During a “SportsCenter” interview in 2012, cornerback Darrelle Revis described Patriots coach Bill Belichick as “a jerk.”

On Monday, Revis’s first official day as a member of Belichick’s team, he said the two have smoothed things over.

“We had a conversation about it,” said Revis, shortly after the Patriots officially announced signing him. “We’re moving forward and we’re excited about working together and trying to win games.”

For Revis, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, the decision to sign with the Patriots was an easy one.

Revis, who agreed to a deal just hours after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Wednesday, opted for a shorter deal, inking a one-year, $12 million contract, with a team option for a second year at $20 million.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the New England Patriots,” Revis said. “It’s basically about just winning. I weighed my options and I just wanted to win and felt this was the right place for it.”

Revis, who practiced with the Patriots last preseason as a member of the Buccaneers when the teams held joint workouts at Gillette Stadium, said he is eager to begin working with Belichick.
