For Patriots rookie Aaron Dobson, ‘The Catch’ is an old-school moment

Aaron Dobson, the West Virginia native and Marshall wide receiver who was drafted in the second round by the Patriots last month, is a YouTube sensation because of ‘The Catch’ that he made in the regular-season finale against East Carolina two seasons ago.

While his one-handed backwards reach-around was named by ESPN as the No. 2 Play of 2011, Dobson regards it as an old-school moment.

“It was fun,” Dobson said at last week’s rookie indoctrination at Gillette Stadium. “But I’m just kind of leaving it there.”

What’s far more important, Dobson knows, is whether he can catch what quarterback Tom Brady will be throwing his way this season and whether he can be the deep threat that New England has been lacking.
