Peyton Manning (left), Curtis Painter.
Drew Brees (right), Mark Brunell, Chase Daniel.
Brees is having a fantastic season, throwing for 4,388 yards, 34 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and compiling a 109.6 passer rating. But he hasnt been quite the machine that Manning has been. The Colts quarterback makes opponents defend the entire field, and is more efficient than anyone else at diagnosing and attacking what the defense is throwing back at him. Against the Jets top-ranked defense in the AFC title game, Manning threw for 377 yards and surmounted a 17-6 deficit by leading the Colts to 24 unanswered points. But what may really separate these guys is that there are ways to get to Brees and knock him around.
