In a continued demonstration that the NFL can do whatever the hell it wants, the league announced Wednesday it can flex games in and out of Sunday Night Football in 2014 beginning in Week 5. reported that news ahead of the league’s official schedule release Wednesday night at 8 p.m.

Previously, the league could flex teams starting in Week 11. Now, up to two games between Week 5 and Week 10 can be flexed. After that, the NFL can flex as many games as it damn well pleases. Typically, the league swaps out bad matchups in the Sunday night slot for more intriguing ones. Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window.

We won’t know the Patriots’ official schedule until tonight, but we know they will face the Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Broncos, Bears, Bengals, Lions, and Raiders at home. On the road they’ll get the three AFC East teamns plus the Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Packers, and Vikings.
