Game time

Yet again, the Boston Red Sox play a part in the time-space continuum of “Lost,” this time pinpointing the exact date that we see a shirtless Jack greet a showering Kate in his flash-forward: August 31, 2007. Which explains why baby Aaron looks to be about three years old.

The Aug. 30 game recap that Jack skims then mutters, “A-Rod,” was from a memorable contest last season, the final game of New York’s three-game sweep of Boston in which Joba Chamberlain threw over the head of Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis. Jack then tosses the paper onto the counter, next to the Millennium Falcon toy he stepped on upon entry into the kitchen, obviously signifying the good-evil struggle between the Rebel Alliance and the Evil Empire, aka Red Sox Nation vs. Yankee Universe. I guess.

That gives Jack just about two months before he can actually witness the Red Sox winning the World Series, a moment he obviously missed in ’04. Then again, at the rate he’s popping those pills, something tells me he visits the mystery guest in the box, and pleads for Kate to go back to island with him all before Papelbon tosses his arms into the air in late October.
