Tom Brady is signed, unless he isn't, and it's imminent, unless it isn't.

Great day so far for The New Media. Everybody is his or her own wire service.

The speculated parameters make for a curious deal. On the one hand, the money seems a bit short and the terms of service even shorter. (If somewhere between $35m and $38m of the money is guaranteed, Brady's still going to finish up the track behind Peyton Manning, unless you really believe that teams that "overspend" will be punished somehow when the new CBA comes down. In which case, I have a bridge in Swansea to sell you.) On the other hand, at three years, Brady would be overwhelmingly likely to make all of the money in the deal, which is always an upset, considering the idiotic way the NFL pursues contract law.

The flurry of leaks was the most interesting part of the day. Somebody wanted a prospective deal out there, probably because that somebody was getting just a bit of heat because that somebody wasn't signing players, while the New York Jets -- aka, Deadwood with a lap band -- were out there locking up Darrelle Revis over the weekend. But I'm just spitballing here.
